MAT ABACUS Business School - Prole 2025
Dear Stakeholder,
A warm welcome to the world of MAT ABACUS Business School. The Business School has been
formed as a result of a merger between the Management Accountancy Training Company
Limited (MAT) and Abacus Business School to offer quality business education across the
board with a special emphasis on ethical leadership and management.
MAT, which was formed in 1999, has consistently been the top performing accountancy
training college in the country and in Africa. Abacus Business School , which was formed in
2014, has excelled equally in redening the landscape in executive education, coaching and
mentoring. Their union is therefore a natural t, bringing into existence what we expect shall
be the premier business school in Uganda.
At MAT ABACUS, we have developed a culture of keeping our promises. Our business model is
based on the particularly strong belief that we owe our success to the trust our stakeholders
have placed in us. Integrity, commitment and excellence are values we cherish. In the pursuit of
excellence, we see ourselves modeling and strengthening the capacity of tomorrow’s leaders.
Our service is dedicated to creating a quality customer experience in which only the best is
good enough. In order to meet this goal, we believe that our pedagogy should be designed in a
manner that enables and excites further inquiry and learning. That is why the case method is
central to our training approach.
We have our eye on the future. Convinced that yesterday’s demand for skills will not sufce
tomorrow’s needs, we aim to work with our clients in such a way that learning is exciting,
innovative, and so that students can challenge their minds everyday. The only way we know
how to succeed is through grit and deliberate practice.
Welcome to the world of MAT ABACUS. Your journey starts here!
Sincerely,
Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka, PhD, FCCA, CPA

About MAT ABACUS Business School
MAT ABACUS Business School is an institution that
was formed as the result of a merger between the
Management and Accountancy Training Company
(MAT) and Abacus Business School (ABS).
The merger created the requisite synergies to transform the
industry through practical higher education, research and
scholarship relevant to the resolution of our continent’s challenges.
The Management Accountancy Training Company and Abacus
Business School (ABS) were both established institutions
recognized in the areas of specialty that include, but are not
limited to, professional courses and executive leadership training
respectively.
Both institutions have been able to impact the education sector
due to the quality of the programs that are offered. MAT is one of
only ve Approved Learning Partners (ALPs) at the platinum level
in Africa. It has a custom equipped training center with modern
teaching facilities, utilizing over 10,000 square feet of classroom
space.
Abacus Business School (ABS), on the other hand, provides quality
education and training for industry and business practitioners
across all sectors and levels of management through interactions
with top leadership of the different companies in the various
sectors.
ABS identied a glaring gap in the current education system,
which is that the curriculum delivered by most institutions does
not resonate with existing and emerging industry needs. In a
dynamic environment, there is also a need for those already in this
employment to re-skill and up-skill in order to remain relevant
in this Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA)
environment.
As a result of this merger, MAT ABACUS will maintain the programs
that are currently being run. However, additional programs will
be developed and delivered to address emerging issues in the
dynamic and competitive business environment. MAT ABACUS
acknowledges that some institutions are driving in the same
direction and will therefore leverage strategic partnerships as a
key pillar to delivering some of the proposed practical courses. We
already have partnerships with some institutions including; Clarke
International University, Edinburgh University and Case Medical
Center.
