Our Story
MAT ABACUS Business School limited is a private company incorporated in Uganda. It is an institution that was formed in 2019 as a result of a merger between the Management and Accountancy Training Company limited (MAT) incorporated in 1999 and Abacus Business School (ABS) incorporated in 2015. Both institutions had established niches in Business education and were led by individuals synonymous with tertiary business education in the academic and professional spheres. MAT ABACUS Business School is headed by the Country Team Leader, and CEO, Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka a Ugandan national and leading academic, professional accountant, auditor and Board Director with a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years.

At MAT ABACUS we have developed a culture of keeping our promises. Our business model is based on the particularly strong belief that we owe our success to the trust our stakeholders have placed in us. Integrity, commitment and excellence are values we cherish. In the pursuit of excellence, we see ourselves modeling and strengthening the capacity of tomorrow’s leaders.
Our service is dedicated to creating a quality customer experience in which only the best is good enough. In order to meet this goal, we believe that our pedagogy should be designed in a manner that enables and excites further inquiry and learning. That is why the case method is central to our training approach.
We have our eye on the future. Convinced that yesterday’s demand for skills will not suffice tomorrow’s needs, we aim to work with our clients in such a way that learning is exciting, innovative, and so that students can challenge their minds everyday. The only way we know how to succeed is through grit and deliberate practice.

A Word From the Chairman
Dear Stakeholders,
I bring you greetings from MAT ABACUS Business School. After 20 years of training chartered certified accountants and business managers, we are beginning a new and exciting journey.
This journey has seen the Management Accountancy Training Company (MAT) Limited merge with Abacus Business School a leading provider of Executive Education in Uganda. Since its inception MAT has maintained a tradition of developing high quality professional accountancy training programs. Many of our students have passed their ACCA and CPA(U) examinations and qualified as professional accountants, including over 303 graduands last year.
